the Piulator

It's time move past the historic arguments about whether the 1, 2, and 3 keys go across the top or the bottom row for phones versus calculators. Sure the keypad on your computer can do it one way and your phone can do it another, but there is another way. The piulator, shown below, has the number keys organized according to the digits of π. Now one of the most popular mathematical constants of all time is built into the design of the calculator itself. No more excuses now for not memorizing π to at least 7 digits...

A footnote on how: the underlying calculator is coded in JavaScript, wrapped in python, hosted on app-engine and then iFramed into this blog. The last bit doesn't work for the Wordpress hosted version of bold lentil hence the recent messing about on blogger. Now as for why - because it's cheaper and faster than getting out the soldering gun and starting on a real calculator with the buttons laid out according to the digits of π.
